Tomorrow is the six week anniversary of the collision of a southbound Isuzu Rodeo and an eastbound Toyota Highlander at the intersection of West 11^th Avenue and Bertelsen Rd. In addition to the tragedy of the four people who died (36-year-old Heather Mulgrave, 34-year-old Connie Vermilyea, 10-year-old Jaziah Vermilyea and 11-year-old Nima Gibba), one person who wishes he died (24-year-old Matthew Ellmers) and one person who was permanently damaged (10-year-old Jakobi Mulgrave), there’s another tragedy that occurred that night.
Imagine that there was a Chrysler minivan heading west on West 11^th on January 21, 2009. At 9:13, the minivan was stopped at a red light next to the Carl’s Junior at Bailey Hill and West Eleventh. At 9:14, it passed the Taco Time and at 9:16, it entered the intersection where the 7-11 is, absorbing the brunt of the Isuzu’s impact, sparing the Toyota’s passengers.
How tragic is it that former Lane County District Attorney REDACT, former Deputy LCDA REDACT, Lane County Circuit Court Judge REDACT and former Lane County Sheriff’s Office Detectives REDACT, REDACT and REDACT were not in that hypothetical Chrysler. Surely the Lord hallucinated by so many of y’all would be stoked if (some of) the folks who continue to collaborate in torturing Diane Downs, Dan Downs Hugi and Christie Downs Hugi Whitney got their just deserts right here on earth.
