Darron Thomas should be in the Lane County Jail, not on Washington State astroturf!
Early Thursday morning on Gateway Street, a Ford Mustang allegedly driven by University of Oregon football team redshirt linebacker Eddie Pleasant and containing star quarterback Darron Thomas in the passenger seat and redshirt receiver Jamere Holland in the rear hit a Doge Caravan containing 32 year old Ricardo Garcia, 24 year old Jacqueline Dalton and an unnamed 1-year old "passenger." The driver of the Mustang was racing a driver in a third vehicle that was not involved in the collision.
Questions for Springfield Police Department [I am still waiting for a call back from Springfield Police Public Information Sergeant John Umenhoffer and Prosecutor David Logan . Maybe one of you will have better luck!]
Category 1: Verification of driver.
1.Was there an eyewitness outside of the car who saw who was driving (Thomas, Pleasant, Holland)?
2.Allegedly Pleasant was driving and Thomas was in the passenger seat. Pleasant had injuries requiring hospitalization. Thomas did not. Was the evidence in the car consistent with the claim that the injured Pleasant was in the drivers seat and the uninjured Thomas was in the passengers seat? Are there pictures documenting this?
3.Was the car registered to Pleasant?
Category 2 “Police don’t believe that alcohol or drugs were involved.”
1.What steps were taken to assess the BAL of the three men?
2.Where had they been prior to deciding to go drag racing on Gateway Street?
3.What time was the accident?
Category 3
1.Why wasn’t the driver charged with third-degree assault, recklessly endangering another person or some other violation of Oregon Revised Statutes that involved the Lane County Circuit Court instead of just the Springfield Municipal Court?
P.S. Fortunately, the Ducks have another felon, DeWitt Stuckey, a felony assaulter from Stockton, CA to send your way instead of one of the injured Ducks!
